Implant Restoration

Dental implants are the next best thing to your own healthy teeth. Whether you need to replace one tooth or many, it is a pain-free solution. After a dental implant has been placed and allowed to heal, it can then be used as an anchor to support a denture or partial denture if there are multiple teeth missing or a crown can be placed on top of it to complete the restoration.

Computer Generated, Single Visit Crowns and Onlays

CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration in Esthetic Ceramics) is a high-tech computer procedure that incorporates a diagnostic dental scanning system and a complete manufacturing/milling process with ceramic porcelain to produce realistic crowns and onlays that are bonded to your existing tooth structure. What does that mean to you? Essentially, we can produce perfectly matched crowns, veneers, and bridges in one visit. No multiple visits, no temporaries, just a lifetime of smiles. The results are extremely durable and natural looking.

The dental office of Dr. Alina Peters and Dr. Ray Vallecillo has always utilized the very latest in dental technology. In fact, we were one of the first practice areas to be certified in and utilize CEREC technology in Beaufort. For more information on our CEREC dental technology, call or e-mail our office.

Full and Partial Dentures

An affordable alternative for the replacement of one to as many as all of your teeth. These prostheses are removable for ease of cleaning and highly esthetic.

Bridges

A dental bridge is a fixed dental appliance designed to replace missing teeth and to restore your smile. In addition to being permanent, they also restore your ability to speak properly, improve ability to chew and eat and relieve biting stress on other teeth while preventing shifting of teeth. They are created to match your natural teeth in shape and color to give you a beautiful, natural smile.

Root Canals

In the center the teeth is the living tissue consisting of nerves and blood vessels. When this becomes infected, the tooth will require root canal therapy in order to save it. An infected dental pulp (abscess) can become a serious health condition if allowed to spread. It can lead to pain on biting, sensitivity to hot and cold, tooth discoloration, swollen or tender gums, or a persistent pimple on the gums.

Extractions

Oftentimes teeth cannot be restored. Factors influencing the decision to extract a tooth include extensive decay, periodontal disease, endodontic infection and finances. Our doctors will evaluate your case and propose the best treatment available, which sometimes include extraction and subsequent replacement with a prosthesis of some type.

Night Guard

If you grind or clench your teeth during your sleep, you can be causing serious damage to your teeth. Unfortunately, tooth grinding or bruxism is a subconscious behavior that most people experience during their sleep but can also occur during the waking hours. Bruxism causes a variety of symptoms including:
  • Sore facial muscles
  • Headaches and earaches
  • Sensitive teeth
  • Fractured teeth and restorations
  • Jaw pain
  • Recession of gums
If you suffer from symptoms of bruxism, we encourage you to visit our office for care. We provide custom oral appliances that fit comfortably, allowing you to sleep peacefully while protecting your smile.

Tooth Whitening

Dissatisfied with your smile? Professional teeth whitening may be your answer. Tooth whitening is a healthy, safe and effective way to brighten your smile. There are several options, each with their own advantages and disadvantages. We can fabricate custom made whitening trays from impressions of your teeth. A whitening gel is placed in the trays and worn over your teeth in the comfort of your own home. They can also be used in the future for touch ups. We also can provide professional strength whitening strips that do not require impressions. They do not cover the entire arch and they may require longer use, but it is possible to achieve the same effects.

Dental Cleanings and Exams

We are dedicated to helping you maintain strong healthy smiles. To accomplish this we typically recommend professional cleanings at least every six months.

Athletic Mouthguards

In today's society, adults, as well as children participate in activities in which orofacial trauma can occur. Properly fitted professional mouthguards have been shown to assist in providing necessary protection to the teeth and supporting facial structures.
Professionally fitted mouthguards are much more comfortable than store-bought, heat fitted guards because they are custom made to the patient’s own dentition. For this reason, they are less bulky and make speaking and breathing much easier than with a generic, over-the-counter guard.
Custom made mouthguards can be fabricated for any type of sport and can be made for people with braces. Custom-made mouthguards are an important tool to help prevent orofacial injuries and possible future dental problems associated with orofacial injuries.
